Natif de Buenos Aires en Argentine, José Gallardo débute le piano à 5 ans au conservatoire de sa ville natale et poursuit ses études avec Poldi Mildner à ‘Université de Mayence, d’où il sort diplômé en 1997. Son amour pour la musique de chambre se développe et s’inspire de ses rencontres avec Menahem Pressler, Alfonso Montecino, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Sergiu Celibidache et Rosalyn Tureck. Il est lauréat de nombreux premiers prix dans des concours tels que celui du Festival de la Musique de Westphalie en 1990, le Johannes Gutenberg de Mayence en 1991, le Piano Contest de Cantù à Come en 1992 et celui de
Trapani en 1995, remporté en duo avec la violoncelliste Sung Hyun-Jun. Il est invité dans de grands festivals allemands et donne des concerts en Europe, Asie, Israël, Océanie et Amérique du Sud. En musique de chambre, il collabore avec Alberto Lysy, Linus Roth, Natascha Korsakova, Friedemann Eichhorn, Sung
Hyun-Jung, Julius Berger et Martin Dobner, dans des salles telles que la Tonhalle de Zurich, le Teatro della Pergola de Florence ou le Wigmore Hall de Londres. En 2005, il se produit à New York et Chicago avant d’enregistrer pour EMI avec Linus Roth. Depuis 1998, il est professeur assistant à l’Université de Mayence.

At age 5, José Gallardo began to take piano lessons at the Conservatory in the city of his birth, Buenos Aires. Later, he continued his studies with Prof. Poldi Mildner at the Department of Music at the University of Mainz and received in 1997, his diploma. During that time he discovered his passion for chamber music.
He learned and was inspired by such artists as Menahem Pressler, Alfonso Montecino, Karl-Heinz Kammerling, Sergiu Celibidache, Rosalyn Tureck, and Bernard Greenhouse.
José Gallardo has won numerous national and international awards. Invitations to numerous tours and festivals followed, including the Chamber Music Festival Lockenhaus, Asiago Festival in Italy, Ludwigsburg Festival, Schwetzingen Festival, Schleswig Holstein, Kronberg Cello Festival, Rheingau Music Festival, Resonanzen St. Moritz, Verbier Festival and others
Concerts in Europe, Asia, Israel, Oceania and South America. He works with Alberto Lysy, Gidon Kremer, Linus Roth, Barnabás Kelemen, Chen Zimbalista, Julius Berger, Miklós Perényi, Danjulo Ishizaka, Nicolas Altstaedt and others. He has also performed in concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Zurich , Music Hall Hamburg, Kurhaus Wiesbaden, Teatro della Pergola, Florence and the Accademia Santa Cecilia di Roma.
